This Chevrolet Performance 350cui (5.7L) Truck Long Block Small Block Generation I crate engine is a replacement L31 engine for 1996-2000 Chevy/GMC Trucks with engine code R (8th digit of the V.I.N.).
The engine has no mechanical fuel pump provision.
It is built up from a 2-bolt main sytle block with one-piece rear main seal and Chevrolet added a nodular-iron crankshaft, powdered-metal connecting rods and hypereutectic aluminum pistons.
You also get power-producing Vortec cylinder heads with 1.94" intake and 1.50" exhaust valves and 64cc combustion chambers that yield a gas-pump friendly 9.4:1 compression ratio.
This combination is paired up with a roller camshaft that has 0.414" of intake lift and 0.428" exhaust lift.
Duration @ 0.050" is 191° for the intake and 196° for the exhaust with 111° of lobe separation.
This long block crate engine comes complete with oil pan, timing cover, valve covers and the harmonic balancer.
